NEUROPSYCHOPHYSIOLOGY OF THE DREAM
Already in the 80’s I introduced to the international scientific community a npp theory about how the two cerebral hemispheres code and decode the incoming information, highlighting how nature communicates on the base of information exchange whose characteristics are measurable by physics.
The information physics act in the same way as “remote controls” and often through the same kind of energy. Such information, with its own physical characteristics, are recognized and identified by the primary areas of the brain (related to the five senses) which are real monitors of incoming signals. This is valid for both of the cerebral hemispheres.
Then we have the so-called cultural information, represented by all of those codes produced by cultural evolution, as the several languages through which humanity interprets, elaborates and identifies reality. All of the forms of language produced by mankind are normally acquired, memorized, and interpreted by the left hemisphere, while nature, through the multiplicity of its physical messages made of several forms of energy, provides information which are acquired, identified, and interpreted by the right hemisphere. So we find within the two cerebral hemispheres two kinds of conscience: the right one interprets and constantly rebuilds the objective reality, the left one rebuilds the interpretative logic of the reality through the cultural codes.
When the logic interpretation does not match with the reality a functional separation between the two hemispheres is created, i.e. the two hemispheres do not communicate with each other any more, building on a logical-formal base a “truth” not matching with reality: this is the “subjective reality”, which may be transferred to others forcing them to the logical-formal repetitiveness. In such a way cultural transmissions which are perfect on the logical-formal are spread, but they are dissociated from the objective reality. The dream appears in this context, constantly operating because the subjective reality of the left hemisphere tends to the objectivity perceived by the right hemisphere. I.e. all the wrong judgements and interpretations performed by the left hemisphere are to be removed to allow the person to evolve to the research of the truth, which is always generated by an integrative synthesis performed by the frontal lobes of the two hemispheres: the right frontal lobe performs the integrative synthesis of the perceived objective signals, the left frontal lobe performs a formal-logical synthesis, in several language codes, of the signals coming from the right frontal lobe.
The consciousness of such a functionality allows the birth of the conscious “I”, which is proper of the individual known as wise.
